We’re revolutionising the way wireless networks are tested and measured. Because high band 4G and 5G networks, and now-dominant data-centric use of mobile networks require higher resolution mobile coverage and service quality data, collected accurately and frequently, everywhere
The problems that have long been associated with legacy drive testing means that coverage maps are inadequate and often incorrect, and mobile operators, regulators, governments and customers don’t have the information they need to deploy, optimise, manage, regulate, and use mobile networks.
problem
specialised equipment, vehicles and teams limit testing
Drive testing has always required the use of highly specialised, complex, unreliable, and costly equipment installed in vehicles dedicated to testing, and operated by highly skilled testing teams - all of which limits the extent and frequency of testing.
problem
inadequate data coverage
With legacy drive testing, only a small percentage of roads can be tested, and then only infrequently, resulting in significant gaps in data, and an over-reliance on desktop prediction modelling – or guesswork.
problem
test data is difficult to access and use
Legacy drive test data processing and analysis tools are also expensive, complex, resource intensive and difficult to use – which restricts who can use them, and therefore the value that you can extract from your drive test data.
Introducing Drive+, powered by lura™
LURAᵀᴹ is the first fully autonomous radio network measurement device available, and supports zero-touch measurement of mobile 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G (including CBRS) networks, and public safety P25 networks using fleet vehicles that are already on the road.
LURAᵀᴹ operates autonomously, and without any manual intervention by a driver or rider. With no impact on workflow, and delivery of improved safety outcomes, LURAᵀᴹ can be deployed on any vehicle to measure all available public and private mobile networks.
LURAᵀᴹ measures mobile networks in the very same way that legacy drive testing tools do, capturing all network RF metrics in complete, industry-standard QMDL log file format.
LURAᵀᴹ is administered and managed remotely, with updates, upgrades and test configuration changes delivered OTA to simplify operation

Log files are automatically uploaded to the RAN-DPS system where they are automatically processed, and RF metric data extracted – with no manual intervention necessary.
Small, weighing 2.2kg (5lb), and IP65 rated, LURAᵀᴹ can be installed permanently or semi-permanently on the exterior of the vehicle, ensuring that measurement data is true and correct and not impacted by the vehicle’s metal bodywork.
With installation typically only taking 15 minutes, LURAᵀᴹ can be deployed on any vehicle, from trucks to measure private network coverage at a mine site, and golf carts used for staff transport on campuses, to robot forklifts in an automated distribution centre.
LURAᵀᴹ can be optionally provisioned with P25 radios, so that you can test all available mobile and P25 networks at the same time.

LURAᵀᴹ is complemented by the RAN-DPS cloud-based data processing, storage, and analysis system to provide a complete, integrated full-stack drive testing solution.
The RAN-DPS incorporates a complete and fully-automated QMDL log file processing sub-system. Log files uploaded to the RAN-DPS at the end of a drive are processed immediately, and all extracted RF metric data, together with the original raw QMDL log file, is stored persistently in the inbuilt hyperscale datastore.
All of your drive test data is always instantly available for querying, retrieval and analysis. And because the RAN-DPS has been optimised for speed as well as scale, your queries run to completion within seconds, rather than minutes . . . or even longer.

Engineers that require full access to all RF metric data, together with business users that simply want to understand coverage, and benchmark it against their competitors’ are both catered for. The comprehensive RanMaps Analyser GUI provides engineers with the querying, visualisation and analysis tools that they’re familiar with . . . and some new capabilities. While the much simpler RanMaps GUI allows non-technical users to quickly obtain the information they need. With these GUIs, and access to the same datasets, a single source of truth is available to everyone in the business for the first time.
